How do I set up the GageWay interfaces?

Ease of setup is one of the defining benefits of the GageWay interfaces.  In most cases, there is no setup required.  Plug the gages in and start using the equipment.  If setup is required, the GageWay interfaces come with an easy-to-use Windows-based setup program.  MicroRidge is the only company that allows you to save all of the setup parameters to a file so that you can copy them into other GageWay interfaces.

How do I get data from an RS-232 device into Excel without keyboarding it by hand.  What are my options?

WedgeLink hardware and software keyboard wedges can be used to automate the measurement collection process.  A keyboard wedge makes the application think that data is being entered from the keyboard.

Which gages do you support?

We support all of the handheld gages (caliper, micrometers, digital indicators, etc.) whether they have a digital or RS-232 output.  We also support any RS-232 device that has an ASCII (human readable) output.  For additional help on sorting out the "cable maze" visit the Gage & RS-232 Cables information page.

How do you connect RS-232 devices to your digital interfaces?

You can connect RS-232 devices with the LC Cable or ProCable.  The LC Cable can only be used with MicroRidge interfaces and the ProCable is used with any Mitutoyo compatible interface.

What do I do if my computer has USB ports but does not have any serial ports?

An inexpensive serial to USB converter can be used to connect our interfaces or any RS-232 device to a USB port.  These are available from MicroRidge for $15 (if purchased with a GageWay interface; $25 when purchased separately).

I am just beginning data acquisition.  How can I get started quickly and cost effectively?
