GageWay
Wireless System
Selecting Your Wireless Components
Overview
The GageWay Wireless
System consists of at least one
MiniStation Base and one or more
MiniStation Remotes and/or Mobile Modules.
The information on this page will help you identify which components and
gage cable information is required for your wireless implementation.
MiniStation Base
A MiniStation Base is required for each unique wireless network. Each MiniStation Base can receive data from
multiple MiniStation
Remotes and Mobile Modules.
MiniStation Remote
A MiniStation Remote is typically used in non-mobile
applications where you are sending data from a serial device such as a gage
interface, scale, etc.
Universal Mobile Module
Universal Mobile Module for all digital gages & RS-232 devices (released December 2007)
Typical gages include gages from CDI, Fowler, Mahr Federal, Mitutoyo, Starrett, Sylvac, etc.
These include torque wrenches, scales, calipers, micrometers, digital indicators, etc.
This module also supports the Opto interface used on several of these gages.
Gage Cable Selection
Part of the process of specifying a Mobile Module is to identify
the gage that will be used with the Mobile Module. The
Mobile Module Gage Cable Worksheet or the form below needs to be completed with your
GageWay Wireless order so that we can supply you with the proper gage cable.
Remember that you can change the gage cables in the field on any of our
Mobile Modules.
About Mobile Module Cable Lengths:
Based upon past customer requirements, we have concluded that a gage cable length of 9 and 24 inches meets most requirements for gages other than calipers and micrometers. If you cable length requirements are other than 9 and 24 inches, specify your required length in the customer length column. the maximum length for most of the gage cables is 30 inches. There may be an additional charge for non-standard cable lengths.
The form below is provided for you to supply gage and cable information for your GageWay Wireless System purchase. You can also download the PDF of the Mobile Module Gage Cable Worksheet and fax the completed form to us.GageWay Wireless System - Mobile Module Gage Cable Worksheet

Whether you connect the MiniStation to a 9-pin serial port or to a USB port, the connection will look like a serial port to your PC application. Nearly all SPC/DAQ applications expect data to be received via a serial port. Your application will not know (and does not care) if the data is coming from a 9-pin serial port or a USB to serial cable. Read more...
