The MicroBase EVO uses USB serial communication via a Virtual COM Port (VCP), allowing it to appear to your computer like a traditional RS-232 serial device. MobileCollect’s Keyboard Wedge makes it easy to input measurement data from precision gages into virtually any software by allowing the MicroBase EVO to appear as a standard keyboard to the computer. When a reading is sent, it’s “typed” at the cursor position like normal keystrokes, so you can capture measurements directly into Excel, cloud-based applications, SPC software, or custom programs without plugins or special integration. You can also append delimiters—such as Enter (carriage return), Tab, or custom characters—after each measurement so the cursor automatically advances to the next cell or field for fast, consistent entry with no manual typing errors. For maximum reliability across different applications, the keyboard wedge entry speed can be adjusted to match what the host software can accept, helping prevent missed characters or misaligned fields.
