Mini Mobile Module
A “pass/fail” or “go/no-go” system is a simple quality check that determines whether a part meets a defined requirement—if it’s within the allowed tolerance it passes (go), and if it’s outside that limit it fails (no-go). It’s important in manufacturing because it standardizes decisions on the shop floor, speeds up inspections, and reduces subjective judgment, helping operators catch defects early before they move downstream. It’s also critical to record each pass/fail result because that data provides traceability, supports audits and customer requirements, and helps prove process capability over time. Captured results make it easier to spot trends, identify root causes when failures occur, and drive continuous improvement while minimizing scrap, rework, and escapes to the customer.
The Mini Mobile Module can send the Module Label instead of a gage reading via the “Transmit Module Label” Feature. Up to an 8 character Module Label (Basic ASCII) can be sent instead of a measurement. This function is useful for SPC systems that require a non-numeric data point such as “Pass”, “Fail”, “Good”, “Bad” etc. The ASCII output will follow the output format of data as set by the base, including the EOP character.
Carriage Returns, Tabs, and Spaces can also be send via the Transmit Label Field Gage Type. This is useful for Keyboard Wedge applications that require additional user input to advance to the next data field or screen by utilizing Enter and Tab keys.
When sending measurement data to the host software you may need to send the correct “keystroke” delimiter so the data lands in the right field and advances the cursor to the desired field for the next measurement. By utilizing the Mini Mobile Module’s special character output, you can turn the Mini Mobile Module into a custom “skip” button eliminating the need to manually skip a data entry field in the host software before taking the next measurement. This custom functionality can reduce both errors and time when measurement a complex part.
This feature requires an EVO Series Base Receiver.
Carriage Returns, Tabs, and Spaces can also be send via the Transmit Label Field Gage Type. To program a Transmit Label Field Gage to send {CR}, {TAB}, or space, enter their respective characters in a set of braces/curly brackets { }. 6 characters must be entered in between the braces, { }, for this function to operate. Utilize a . (period) as a filler character. C, T, or S must be the first character after the opening brace. For repeat characters, enter the representative character the desired amount. If the format is not followed, then whatever is typed in the Module Label field will be send as a text packet.
Character for Carriage Return: C
Character for Tab: T
Character for Space: S
Character for filler: . (period)
